I can’t lie to you all, this retrograde season is kind of kicking my ass. Not in a dramatic way, but more lowkey, which can be even more frustrating at times. Through this annoyance, I’m also learning I don’t need to have my shite together. This is hard for a Capricorn rising, because I really love having my shite together 🙁
But it’s okay. I will be okay. We will be okay because everything is timed perfectly. This retrograde season we’re experiencing was promised thousands of years ago and we are alive to witness it for a reason.
As we enter and exit our various planetary retrograde transits, remember that you are here for a reason. And there are lessons to learn from all this chaos. So learn.

This month’s tarotscopes feature the Rider Waite Smith Tarot deck and the Prairie Majesty Oracle deck by Kara Simons, illustrated by Amy Putney Koenig.
Read for your Rising element first, then your Sun element.
Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
Earth: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Water: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Water: Justice and 2 of Cups, Stink Bug (Flip)

A month of duality, balance, and connection is ahead for you, Water signs. With Justice as your main energy, you are being invited to maintain your autonomy, even when (especially when) relating with others.
Justice is a card of cause and effect. How you treat yourself, your spirit, your ideas, your perspective, will teach others how to treat you. So choose wisely, Water signs. It can be easy to feel your way through things, to not take the rational approach because, well, Where’s the fun in that? but Justice says to look at things clearly. Justice requires structure and stability, symbolized by the stone pillars and throne in the RWS deck. Justice requires maintaining boundaries while sharing your passions.
The 2 of Cups supports this sentiment. In the RWS deck, one figure is holding onto their cup and the other is reaching. This month, this is an invitation to hold onto your own cup, to find value in your own spirit, instead of always reaching for others. Sometimes, Water signs, your sign believes always initiating or being emotionally supportive will create meaningful relationships. This is not a stable truth to stand on. Reciprocal relationships require a give and take, balance, cause and effect. Justice. Connections, emotional environments, creative environments, 2 of Cups environments, will reveal more meaningful interactions when you take a step back. When you stand on your own two feet. When you look at yourself and your surroundings with more logic and love.
Your Prairie Majesty Oracle this month is Stink Bug with the message, “How does the situation look and feel from different view?” In this case, how would it feel to be in relationship with yourself? Do you like what you see? Do you like who you are in relation to others?
To quote the guidebook, “Shift your approach and swap positions. Maybe this means trying something new, … the Stink Bug is a result of invasion and persistence. When threatened, Stink Bug emits a rotten odor that warns everyone else to leave them alone. Tap into that tenacity and determination. Don’t give up on yourself.” Take back Justice for yourself this month, Water Signs.
Fire: 7 of Cups and Queen of Wands, Deer Mouse (Nest)

Fire, as an element, can feel very all or nothing. A spark can feel all-consuming, a feeling, a passion. This month, you are being invited to stoke your inner fire, treat it with gentleness instead of always expecting a full bonfire.
The 7 of Cups is a card of desire. In the RWS art, the figure is surrounded by, overshadowed by the objects of their desire. These desires take up the whole card, don’t allow for anything else to be imagined. When this card appears, it’s a reminder of the difference between a want and a need. Each cup symbolizes a different unmet need, spiritually, emotionally, tangibly; but each cup also offers either a bandaid fix (that immediately looks sexy and fun) or a long-term fix (that seems a little scary and unsexy to begin with). And that’s not to say sometimes a bandaid fix isn’t necessary, I mean, that’s why bandaids exist, but November is asking you to slow down and separate your feelings about things from the reality of the thing.
One easy way to do that is ask yourself this: What would fulfill my spirit?
This, on the surface, is a simple question. Could be reduced to “what makes me happy?” but that’s not what I’m asking. That’s an ego question. I’m asking you to get in touch with your spirit, the energy that has sustained you through the storms of life. The spirit isn’t flashy, isn’t seeking external validation, isn’t always sexy, but is steadfast. The Queen of Wands supports this perspective. She treats her spirit, her joy, her ambition, as a boundary. If you cannot respect these aspects of her life, you cannot be in her life. The Queen of Wands creates magic wherever she goes just by expecting magic to appear. She does this by keeping in touch with her spirit, maintaining healthy levels of ego, and by minding her business. Fire signs, some things are not your business.
But back to treating yourself with gentleness. Your Prairie Majesty Oracle this month is Deer Mouse, whose message is, “Would more tenderness help?” As a person with ruled by an Aries Saturn (aka, Fire where Fire doesn’t like to be), I’m learning I can actually be tender with myself. I’m learning that often my Big Feelings are symptoms of an unmet need. But these Big Feelings can be handled with care.
To quote the guidebook, “Let’s talk self-talk. When challenging situations or feelings arise, is your inner dialogue critical or reassuring? If you wouldn’t say it to Deer Mouse, think twice before saying it to yourself. Deer Mouse also asks us to use our power for the uplifting of everyone. There is no hierarchy of importance in a truly free society.” Fire signs, instead of using your intensity as self-punishment, use it to inspire and free others.
Earth: Ace of Wands and The Fool, Box Turtle (Carry)

A month of fresh, new ideas, is ahead of you, Earth signs. For an energy that appreciates steadfastness, it can be a challenge for you to pivot, but November is an opportunity to flex your creative muscles and embark on a new path.
With the Ace of Wands as your primary energy, you are being invited to breath new life into your passions. What truly lights your fire, Earth signs? Outside of your obligations, responsibilities, to-do lists, what energizes you? What used to energize you, but you decided wasn’t necessarily worth your time? Whatever it may be, let November be the month you give it some love. The Aces, in tarot, are all blank slates, ready for whatever you are looking to put on the canvas. In your pursuit of legacy building, Earth signs, do you want your canvas to be empty or full of color and life? That requires you to take a risk.
The Fool supports this risky business, lol. The Fool is the beginning of the hero’s journey, where you are learning new lessons, gaining new skills to support you on your adventures. When The Fool appears, a calculated risk is necessary. Breaking free of old confines is necessary. Understanding that you’re not running from responsibility or belonging, but rather, finding a story, an environment that genuinely fulfills your spirit and your legacy.
Your Prairie Majesty Oracle this month is Box Turtle with the message, “What is always mine?” Which is a great question to ponder, as you take on new, different forms of being. What is always yours, no matter what environment you’re in?
To quote the guidebook, “Like Box Turtle, you came into this world with strengths and propensities that belong to you and you alone. … Have patience with yourself, especially if it feels like you’re not discovering or understand your unique attributes and gifts as quickly as you’d like. There’s no race, and you don’t need to chase what you already have.”
Earth signs, read that last sentence again. There’s no race, and you don’t need to chase what you already have. The Big Ideas of the Ace of Wands and the Leap of Faith in The Fool aren’t external entities, they exist because you exist. So there’s no rush to figuring out your existence, but there’s no reason to shy away from it, either.
Air: The Star and The Fool, Cloud and Killdeer (Strut)

Air signs, you are known for being logical, rational, sharp-witted. You are masters of environmental awareness, communication, and relating to others. In this realm, the mushy gushy feelings of hope and faith are not always in your vocabulary. November is here to change that.
In tarot, The Star appears after the upheaval of The Tower. This placement in the Fool’s Journey symbolizes how important it is to hold onto hope, even when your immediate environment doesn’t give you reason to hope. In the RWS deck, The Star‘s environment is open and expansive, ready to be watered, nurtured, believed in. You, Air signs, are allowed to believe and be believed in, too. The Universe rewards positive thoughts and intentions, so let these be filled with love for yourself and your future. Trust in yourself, your abilities, and your big ideas. As long as you believe in them, your environment will, too.
The Fool is the supporting energy for your reading this month, emphasizing the themes found in The Star. Both of these tarot energies are associated with Aquarius/Uranus, asking us to break the mold of who we think we are in order to truly becoming who we’re supposed to be. The Fool, The Star, Uranus, Aquarius, are all related to liberation and freedom. Freedom, as posited in Pedagogy for the Oppressed, requires both responsibility and autonomy. This November, Air signs, take responsibility for your future, your thoughts, your actions. Embrace the freedom you have so clearly fought for.
Your Prairie Majesty Oracle are Sky and Killdeer. Since Sky is one of the more abstract cards in the deck, I also took the pull’s secondary energy to support you, which was Killdeer, whose message is, “Am I carrying myself with love?” Air signs, do you love and care for yourselves enough to invest in your future? Are you moving with love?
To quote the guidebook, “Killdeer reminds you of the power potential in the physical. Remember, your body is a vessel. What are you filling it with? Using love as your rubric to choose will only embolden your personal expression. We need the uniqueness that is beautiful you, with all your quirks and spark and pizazz.” Additionally, the Sky card speaks to a flow of movement, one that is, “expansive, freeing, big picture, observation, blank slate”. So take these concepts and apply them to yourself this month. So Air signs, let November be a month full of love, pride in your past (no matter how rough), and faith for your future.
